AJ-ism

AJ created this Lego situation. It's Emmett from the Lego Movie-and he is sledding with about 10 other guys! Hah!

AJ is 4!

That's right we got a 4 year old in DA house.  Where do I start on this dude... he is my super smart, historian, lover, best big brother ever, wrestling, and in touch with his emotions dude.  There is so much to say about him and I don't even know where to start.  Let's start with big brother title.  When AJ became a big brother to Ryker he was only 18 months old.  All he knew was that there was this new 'thing' that was around and taking up ALOT of his Momma's time.  There was hitting and biting and scratching...and it was a bit of a rough transition.  Not this time.  AJ has been the best big brother ever to Dempsey.  It's amazing what a couple years can do!  AJ checks on his sister, lifts her up (um..yea) when she falls, tells her "it's okay, big brother is here", and just loves her to pieces.  It was his second shot at big brotherhood and he is SOARING!

I call AJ the historian because he doesn't seem to forget anything.  Kinda freaky sometimes.  We will drive somewhere and he'll be like-REMEMBER when we went there centuries ago...  Russ and I will look at each other and are in awe about it.

Now that he is 4 -he has talked about it alot.  Well I can do this or that because I'm 4.  I just feel that this is a big year for him.  Almost to school.  Almost ready to peddle that bike.  Almost ready to fly the nest.  Almost.

Something that I've been meaning to blog about this...but time has a escaped me.  Russ and I decided to discontinue the 4 minute Ipad time for AJ.  It had become more of a problem/addiction/demand situation etc.  Instead we turned it into story time.  We read a story just like we always have, but then Russ or I tell him a story.  It can be any story...from our childhood, adolescence, the Army days, travels...  I had no idea how awesome this idea would be until we did it.  It has been rather nostalgic to look back at my life and find stories that are AJ-worthy:)  Plus it is a designated time for AJ to learn more about us:)  He Loves it!  Good riddance Ipad-zoneoutmachinecrankinessinducingIpad.   I dig AJ so much, and he is my favorite (on rotation of course....) :)  He is my cuddly, ready to wrestle man.

Happy Birthday sir!  LOVE you so much,
Momma

Morning Runs

I've been extremely enjoying my new house, especially the new running trails!  I have yet to go the exact same way on a run:)  Something that is super cute is that Ryker insists on going on these runs, since he is the early bird of the family.  As much as I appreciate a run/time all to myself, which is few and far between these days, there is something very special about running with Ryker.  He is always so cheery and anytime I need encouragement he will yell "Go MOMMA! Run! Mamma! Run!"  Sometimes in the middle of the run he will say, "Momma, I"M TIRED."  Uh-huh.  Ok Ryk.

AND then when we get home usually he says, "Mommaaaa...I'm thirsty.  I'm hungry.  I'm tired."  Those runs sure wear the kid out...I mean seriously sitting in that stroller is ROUGH.

It all makes me extremely happy to know that my children have and will continue to see their Momma run/workout all the time.  I want them to know that this is something I believe in, that it is something they can do for self-care, for fun!!

Love that lil Ryker.

AJ

Oh AJ!! Big guy!! Yesterday we went to the pool with friends. AJ began wanting to hold my hand and carefully enter the water. Within minutes the dude was as far from me as possible, in a water gun fight with his friend. I actually could sit back (aka hold Dempsey up in water) and watch AJ be a big boy!!
So cool:)

Oh Dempsey is getting bigger and cuter all the time!!!! She's sitting up now really well and eating solids (well gooey solids)! She loves sweet potato!!!

Ryker times.

Per usual, Ryker is the crazy-class clown of the family, Some of his latest antics include:
•As we were assembling the lawn furniture, Ryker took the power screw driver and was "using" it on the chairs. Not soon after we hear a 'Ping' and whatdoyaknow he has successfully used the Heavy power screwdriver to unscrew a screw. Wow.
•On several occasions I will be looking for my phone and hear the Star Trek theme song playing-I eventually find Ryker. He has taken my phone, unlocked it, found netflix and clicked on Star Trek.
•He sleeps with this toy gun for nap and night time. He continues to shoot me as I walk out his door!

Gum.

I bought some of that awesome Big Chew gum for AJ. I was stoked to show him it, because who doesn't like that stuff. Within minutes he was hiding behind the chair and when he popped his head up-gum.in his.EYElashes.

Everyone that knows AJ knows he has daddy-long legs for eyelashes. Whoopsies.

Luckily Grandma was around to use peanut butter bit by bit to finally get it out.

"I'll never do that again!"   -AJ

A biter

This cute little girl has been using her teeth while nursing this past weekend. Owie!!! I scream, she cries.

So frustrating for both of us...
But we've had some amazing times too...thank goodness.
