Our good buddy's birthday party!  Fun story-this pic is the kids getting ready to do a high up adventure course.  Three months prior they were too scared to do it!  This time-killed it!

Quick trip to Kearney to be with family and help put up a deck

These kids!!!

This Ethan-man is just a wonderful adventure!!!

Climbing trees for days!

Took our Merler buddies to Kanemoto park.  What a great pool!

DECK=finished!

We didn't plan on getting this, but they happened to have THE exact backpack she was requesting.  Her criteria:  pink/purple/sparkly/unicorn.  UH. DEAL!

When you Turn 8

Toward the end of the school year I walked into the counseling office with my buddies standing ready for me.  They told me they had a plan and that I had to say YES!  Their plan was to pack up our first born sons at the end of July and head to Albuquerque.  We would leave on Tuesday, come home on Thursday and on Wednesday we would surprise the boys with the Imagine Dragons concert.  I LOVE adventures with friends!  So I said Yes!  Finally the end of July came-and I got to surprise AJ.  He didn't know about the concert til about 4 hours before.  I still don't think it sunk in until we were there listening to them.  We Facetimed with Russell after the show and AJ told him that he cried a couple times because he was so happy while they were playing some of his favorite songs.  It was so beautiful.  It reminded me how important it is to get away and adventure with one kid at a time.

We also spent time at a waterpark where AJ learned how to love waterslides!  So fun!  I hope this is stored in his memory back for awhile, because it is definitely stored in mine!

Annual Girls Only Backpacking Trip

Oh how much do I cherish this trip?  So much!!!!  This is my 3rd year attending this trip, and each year it gets easier.  The packing list is already done, my packing skills are better, and I usually have a fun new trinket to add to make things easier or lighter.  One of the perks this year was a mattress that worked the whole time!! I've never gone on this trip and had that happen.  Let me tell you-that makes a huge difference when you sleep in the backcountry.

This trip is so precious for me.  It involves ladies that are so understanding, great listeners, love to adventure, positive, and so so lovely.  We talk about severely intimate things, with no judgment. in the most beautiful scenery possible.  We explore feelings on topics that are dear to us.  We share successes and goals, and struggles and how we are doing with it all.  We support our need for companionship, as well as time for quiet.

This year the trip happened to land on my MIL's birthday.  This brought up so many feelings.  So loved when I did this trip.  It made her so happy that I was going away with my girlfriends and exploring nature.  She gladly watched the kids, and awaited my stories and pictures.  It's been a hard summer.  I think that is why I continue to stay busy.  When I'm at home with the kids, it's easy to miss her presence terribly.  I felt very grateful to be in the mountains on her birthday.  During some meditation time I felt my grief for her.  I thought about so many lovely memories I had for her.  We all even let out a yell to the mountains.  That was a magical moment for me in handling all my feelings.

I feel very lucky to have bonded with these ladies, and been allowed into this amazing group.  This is a trip that I will await for each year!!

Summer Edition 6

This week was the Fourth of July shenanigans and nature times!  My sis and her family stayed up in Estes for a couple of weeks after our brother's wedding.  It was great to get some good sis and cousin time!  My sis and I even managed to get out for a great dinner by ourselves.  The bottom picture is Arjan and Ryker sitting around the fire.  It was so sweet-Ryk kept asking for stories and Arjan kept sharing!

For the 4th of July we headed to our friend's house the Merlers.  We were a bit undecided as we have been so darn busy, and just was craving some time off. BUT our friends are too fun.  AND I realized that the 4th of July is meant for framily, it's ingrained in my bones.  So we went up there and shot off the fireworks we could do---it wasn't Nebraska style....fire bans and stuff:)

We also did some camping with the Merler's right outside of Estes Park.  I put my phone away except for when I took this picture of Demps and Ella and their smores.  It was great to get away, be in nature and have some good friend time!

Summer Edition 5

This was a GREAT summer week!  We headed back to Lincoln to celebrate my brother Troy and Lara's wedding:) It was a Rockabilly theme, which truly was SO FUN!  We all got to bring out our fun makeup, outfits, and general attitude! lol.  I mean seriously, do you see my husband?  Hottie!  And Della-how beautiful was she??  And my SIS!!!! WEEEEwoooooo!  They had a live band play, and after a little hesitation the kids all got out on the dance floor and we had a blast.  Moves for DAYS.  We literally had to pull Dempsey off the floor, crying that she wanted to dance more.  She was asleep 3 minutes from when she laid down.

It's so fun to share dancing at weddings with my kiddos!
