Fruvellhoffs+Hoffmans-take NYC

Awhile back Russell and I talked about going to NYC. All 3 kids have expressed interest, and the last time they visited NYC was when they were very little. We also wanted to treat my parents to a trip there, because they love going into the city! We had a great planning meeting where each person shared what they were hoping to do! This included in no specific order: pizza, 12 Chairs (a favorite brunch place), Broadway, the Statue of Liberty, 9-11 Memorial museum, shopping, the Intrepid, the Highline, and of course riding the mass transit. My Dad was amazing and created this daily itinerary to accomplish the most we could.

Our trip went off without a hitch. It was lovely! The itinerary kept us visiting the things we wanted to. The kids did awesome with all the walking (the first 2 days were a bit tricky-but we made it!) We stayed at a place in Manhattan that looked directly across to the Empire State Building, which was amazing at night. AJ learned from my Dad how to navigate in New Year City, which was quite the learning experience!

AJ: Experiencing different cultures, going on the subway.
Ryker: Seeing all the sights that New York had to offer! Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, 9-11.
Dempsey: Going to Central Park
Megan: Going to Wicked, and walking everywhere to find all the things to see!
Russell: Riding the subway

We had a great time! It was the perfect amount of time to see things and then enjoy going back to home where it was a bit more quiet. It's so fun to have kids that can hang in New York City-late nights, SO many people, walking the streets, and being willing to go somewhere because SOMEONE in the group wants to:)

Good times!

New Things=NJHS

AJ was invited to join NJHS at the end of last year. It requires that he rocks it in academics and also in being a good person. Both areas are specialties for AJ. We were able to attend his induction ceremony last week. It was so awesome to see him up there! It was also to see him with two of his great friends that were also inducted. Not only is he killing it, but he also chose great friends that are doing the same!

Summer, yet it's Fall?

So it's almost November and I'm posting about summer. If that's any indication on how things have gone...I don't know what is:) BUT that's what happens when you sell a house, move into a new house, take on a life improvement project for the last 10 months...things are busy.

BUT SUMMER.

I often daydream about summer.

We played hard. We took out the camper. We played with friends. Ryker baseballed. I went backpacking. We camped with friends. We used beach towels almost everyday. Russ and I went to the beach and had a great time.

It was a good, much needed, nature-friend-family connecting summer. I can't wait to do more of the same next year.

Love, Momma
