DEMPSEY GIRL is 9. This is legit the last year of her being in the single-digits. I know she isn't the baby anymore, but she still does have her sweet little voice....THANK GOODNESS. This girl is fully into make believe. She loves playing stuffies, school, and restaurant. She loves having her friends over to play. EVERY single weekend she asks us to reach out to other parents to see if her friends can play, and sometimes I get overwhelmed with how social she wants to be. In some ways-(IN A VERY TINY WAY) I wish she had her own phone-lol!
Dempsey LOVES animals big time. Right now we are dog sitting a friend's dog, and SHE loves coming over to help let the dog out. I love how she calls out the dogs name. She has this sweetness about it. She is pretty determined that we will get a dog next summer, and as much as I'm not interested in doing all that work-I do LOVE what it brings out in Dempsey.
Dempsey feels big feelings and she KNOW what she needs. I have a huge amount of respect for what she is able to articulate to us when she is going through something. My go-to is to hold/hug her and she more often than not is not interested-especially in the beginning. She wants you close but not too close. When she is ready she'll come be by you.
She loves swinging on her new tree swing, she loves jumping on the trampoline, and she REALLY loves being in water. Yesterday I was telling her that I wished it was warmer out and that maybe I belong at the ocean where it's warm. She said if we moved she would be sad because she wouldn't be around snow anymore and her middle name is Snow. I said we could switch it to "Sand" or "Sun". She wasn't interested.
Dempsey's giggle is the best, and it's kind of addicting to get her to laugh like that! She loves journaling about her day, and recently started creating her own books! She loves reading. Soon she will perform for both her singing and her dancing groups. She will be on a stage, looking out at many people, and performing things she has been practicing for months. I'm eager to see how she does-if she gets more or less nervous than in the past? If she loves it and wants to keep performing?...All I know is that it is super duper awesome raising a girl-and I FEEL EXTRA grateful that I get to be her Mom.
Love,
Me
