Trying to Keep This Going

I have to be honest. This blog is starting to feel complicated. I think it switched for me because my favorite platform to print out our blog went out of business. I started looking for more blog printing options and they are INSANELY priced right now. SO I still haven't printed the last year blog because I refuse to pay so much money for this book. BUT here I am...not letting this go, because I'm done this since 2010. I just really want to keep it going until the kids are out of school.

That's Dr. Kevin to You

These pictures are nearly four years apart, and it happened. It finally happened—Kevin is officially a therapy dog! I’m so freakin’ proud of him… or maybe proud of us.

Over the past few months, so much has been happening in my life—or should I say, I’m finally making things happen for me. I took a workshop on how to utilize therapy animals, where we did a pretest and were given just one thing to improve on before the final test. Kevin and I worked hard, and with Dempsey’s help, we pushed through. Yesterday, we took the post-test… and he passed with flying colors!

Honestly, it felt like there should have been confetti falling from the ceiling, fireworks lighting up the sky, and so many balloons—because this was a huge dream of mine that became reality in just 25 minutes. But in truth, it took five years of training, dedication, and, ultimately, refusing to take no for an answer.

Big deal. Big things happening. I’m super duper proud!

Let's Get this Over With

This am we rescheduled a gymnastics class for today. Demps was not a fan, even though we agreed to it. She also expressed wanting to quit gymnastics and start Dance. We told her that she needed to finish this payment round, and that she was going to the practice today because we all agreed to it.

When she hopped into the car she said, "Let's get this over with Mom."

Hah, I loved it. Let's get this over with:) Sometimes we do things that we don't always want to do, but damnit we have to. SO....let's go Demps.

AJ Takes High School

AJ....he continues to rock at high school! He was just nominated as the JV captain again this Spring for Ultimate Frisbee. He was a smidge nervous to get back on the field for the Spring, but then he did it and he had so much fun! I love love love that he enjoys it so much! We went to conferences and his teachers had nothing but amazing things to say about him. They stated he: -is the leader of his group and keeps them on track, - he tracks his teacher and what he is saying, and -is so strong academically!

Proud of this guy!

Band Groupies!

We attended Ryker's last band concert for 7th grade! I'm continually amazed at how well these kids sound! I love that Ryker is confident with his skills! That boy constantly has a rhythm in head or in his hands! :) He tells us that he thinks he will do jazz band next year-I sure hope! I think he'll really like it!

Casa Bonita!

We visited the holy grail of what is known as Casa Bonita! It was such a trip, and I'm so glad we took the kids to experience it. We might have taken a mortgage out just to purchases our meals/drinks this time. WORTH IT! The kids had some strong opinions about going down to Denver on a weekday, yes. But they quickly changed their minds:)

New News is Making the News

Holy moly—Ryker’s team is absolutely crushing it this year! Since coming back from winter break, they’ve won three tournaments in a row. I believe they went into their last tournament with an incredible 18-0 match record!

But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Ryker has been learning how to work with a strong-willed teammate who likes to take control. I’m so proud of him for navigating tough conversations and building the confidence to step up—like taking on the challenge of driving!

The team has now qualified for States (next weekend), Nationals in Omaha in a few weeks, and most likely Worlds!

Ryker says this will be his last year in robotics… but we’ll see about that! 😉
