I need to document this!
Russ and I took Aylen to Union College on Sunday for some swimming fun! It brought back a TON of memories! I used to go to Union College ALOT-to swim with my friends and family. Nothing has changed...from the lockers, showers, or the Pool itself. Russ said that he wanted to take Aylen in the MENS room to change him, so I headed off by myself to my room. Of course, I was done sooner so I headed to the pool and paddled around. It felt like forever before my MEN came out of the changing room. It was one of those moments that will forever be imprinted in my HEAD. It's one of those moments that I remember waiting as a little girl for my Dad to come out of the men's room. And being so excited to go swimming with him. Now, I was waiting for my child to come out of the Mens Room with his Daddy. (This is the stuff that takes my breath away, and makes me LOVE LOVE LOVE being a mom!)
So out marches Russ holding Aylen so proudly. They are both in their swim trunks and I seriously felt like all was right in the world.
Ok-back to the story...So Aylen is scanning the room--thinking WHAT the heck has mom and dad got me into now!!! He spots me and GIVES me the biggest smile (melt heart melt heart). Russ hands him to me and in the water he goes! Russ convinces me (after he spoke with a guy in the locker room about the swimming instincts in babies) that we should have Aylen "swim". After asking a MILLION times what do we do? how do we do this??? Russ essentially gently pushes Aylen into the water and for probably 2 WHOLE SECONDS Aylen is ALONE, WITHOUT HELP in the water. And by George, he SWIMS to me! He holds his breath and it is AMAZING. I grab him and he looks at me like what the deuce mom???
And we try it a couple more times and it goes very well! And then we decide he has had enough--and just play games like --FInd Mommy, Find Daddy, play with the BALL in the water and had the BEST time swimming!
It was great! And fun! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE that I'm recreating great memories with Aylen, just like my family did for me back at the UNION pool!
Have a great day!
Love,
Momma
