Feeling it this Morning
It's been a great morning so far. First of all I woke up because I was laughing in my dream. I was laughing because Russ had done something funny while we were on a beach vacation (awesome!). Then I had the boys run into my room and snuggle and chat with me. Followed by Russell and Dempsey joining us. AJ read "Are you my mother" all by himself to the family.

Lego Rocket
Sometimes the boys convince me to build Legos with them. I always end up having a LOT of fun despite my initial objections. Just fall back in the same old groove of my former 10 yr old self.
We built this rocket together. R

Oh Demps
Sweet little girl. She loves to read, just grabs a book and starts telling herself the story. Sometimes throws the book up on my lap and demands I read to her. Who could say no right?
Also, when she's feeling especially needy or lovey or she or wants to cuddle, she says to Meg or I: "I have you." Lovely little Dempsism.

Kids and Basements
Great quotes recently:
"Snowbaby watch Mickey Mouse." -Snowbaby
"Dad, I can't hug you right now cause I'm itching my butt." -Ryker
"Why does the world spin, Dad?" -AJ
These past 2 weeks we've been quite busy framing the basement! It's usually a whole family activity in one way or another. Meg has been doing great running the saw, measuring, hanging walls with me, moving stuff around as needed, and pretty much helping out in every way possible to enable the whole project. Huge shout out to you babe! We've found it impossible to work on during the week, so it's a weekend only project for now. Works out well, being wintertime. We're both quite excited to be doing this project, especially right now while we still have a good 15 years left in this house. Lots of time to enjoy it.
Here's some pics along the way.

Ugh.
Well we have been up since 1230/1 this morning. Every since we went on our trip to Nebraska for Thanksgiving the kids (with exception of AJ) and their sleep routines have been off. Ryk is constantly coming in around midnight, wanting to cuddle. Dempsey has required attention around 1am. We almost were back to normal and then we traveled for Christmas. Russell and I were basically just doing whatever to get kids sleeping again when we returned. The compromise that we made was that he would go in and cuddle with Dempsey and usually fall asleep. Ryk could come in our room only if he slept on the couch. It's interesting how you can tolerate that for awhile, but then it starts to be unbearable. You just want a full nights sleep. I believe we have had 1 night of 8 hour sleep in several Lonnggggg months. Anyways, I'm not really looking for any type of sympathy. Rather, I want documentation that our nights are hellish right now. It's so tiring and frustrating and sometimes I feel like it's self-imposed but then who really freakin knows. These little people crave touch and who can blame them. But I crave some alone time. Two dates are days away from our reach and I'm ever so thankful for them. My patience has been low lately. I'm calling on the tribe for a pick-me-up=some space between us all. Anywho....here we are @ 323am. Awake since 1230a, and sitting in chair in Dempsey's room to placate her. She seems determined tonight to not really go to sleep. So cheers to coffee! Tomorrow night I need sleep or it won't be pretty.
Love,
A tired momma

This girl
At bath time, Demps has been having a ball! She likes to submerge herself, on her back, lie there for a bit, and then seems to enjoy flailing about as she rights herself. Those times when her brothers make this into a struggle (by accident of course), she seems to love it even more! Like the thrill of adrenaline while brushing the edge of a rock ledge....
Maybe this is our little thrill seeker in the family....
