See this guy? Yup, that's Russell and his twin (not really but basically). They have been exploring Vietnam for the past week and a half. Russell gets back in two nights, but I'm not counting. This has been quite the trip for both of us. The first time that either one of us has been away from the other this long since Hurricane Katrina, and the longest either of us has been away from the kids. My competitive self is actually doing pretty well considering Russell is away and traveling without me. It is very much my style to be jealous of others going on adventures, especially when an airplane is involved. I don't know why I feel that way about airplanes...I suppose it is because if you are going to get away you to somewhere far and wide you need an airplane. By the end of Russell's trip he will have gone on 10 planes. 10 planes=adventures up the wazoo. However, I've curtailed my jealous simply for the fact that I'm just plane (see what I did there) excited for him. He's on a journey, with his brother! To me it signifies a time in life where we can finally do these sorts of things again! We don't have the "we have kids" excuse.

One way that I have survived this trip is I decided to utilize my intensely positive attitude to switch my thinking. Instead of thinking about all the things I could be doing with Russell if he was here or I there, I celebrated and enjoyed all the things I could do since he WAS NOT here. You might ask what kind of shenanigans I got into while he was gone....well I will tell you. I went to BED early! That's right! 8, 830, 9. I think I might have stayed up one night until 10:20pm. Otherwise I've enjoyed going straight to bed. I'm not quite sure if it's because it's exhausting being the primary parent or because I just love getting sleep or because I worked out most mornings early early. Potato-Potato. Another thing I have enjoyed is that I have scheduled hangouts with many different people! Russell can easily feel overbooked at times, so I took advantage of my need for social time.
Russell! Cue Kelly Clarkson: Since you've been gone we've......gone to many different parks, created a sweet Minecraft valentines holder, threw tons of rocks into the creeks of Colorado, visited with friends, watched movies, played UNO, drank a beer or two (me not the kids), got sick, had Chicken Awesome, hung out with Grammy a bunch, spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa's, saw a deer, cuddled, read lots of books, cried and hit, laughed a ton, fixed a circuit breaker, sprayed ants that invaded, and got flowers and chocolates from you for Valentines Day (swoon).
I wore heavy pajamas and socks to bed so that I stayed warm all night, surprisingly it worked! Despite all the fun things we have done, and all the tricks I have used I'm ready for you to come home!! There is definitely something missing in this house. For instance, I tried to cut AJ's hair and totally forgot that I didn't have a guard on. That was a YUGE mistake and I was worried I might not have been forgiven, luckily I have. As long as he doesn't look in the mirror. And my oil light is on...I'm going to have you take that in when you get back. Thank goodness Grammy was here, because Sammy appeared to have a tick on him and I about died. Oh yeah, I had to sign up for Regal and actually had to pull up my seats from my phone. Do you know that I've never done that before...so I can do it. But I don't prefer it! Most of all, you are tall-dark-and handsome and my partner in crime. I want you back to giggle with and keep each other calm when the kids are cray, and snuggle and share life together.
Come back home, ya hear! Love,
Momma
PS. Big thanks to Grammy for coming all the way from Nebraska and helping with the kids. So insanely helpful!
