King of the Mountain

We went camping at Lake McConaughy this past weekend.  It was a blast.  Well in truth it was quite cold and rainy for the first 24 hrs, but that made the last 24 hrs that much better!

Lots of good times hanging with the friends and seeing all the growing kids play together.

Here are some highlights...

Yep, that's Ryker up there.  We went on a walk down the beach and came upon this ledge.  It is one of those moments when all of the kids and adults seemed to notice it at the same time, and instinctually felt drawn to it and immediately set about climbing it.  Ryker was first up to the most obvious climbing notch, but then quickly moved laterally once he spotted a better notch to traverse.  And yes, we ALL cheered when he celebrated reaching the top and gave us that Rocky pose!  It was one of those awesome moments in his life and I fully admit I was beaming with pride.  Love that kid's sense of adventure and lack of fear.

Fishing for a Dad is a full-time job at this age.  It's one of those long-term payoff deals like an investment.  Some day it will be relaxing, and the more I teach them well, the sooner it will come.

Cuteness galore!

Sweet sunset shots..

New friends...

Old friends...

Anyway, it's fun to have a tradition we do every year with old friends.  All of the kids seem to have a good time too.  Cheers R
