Busy, Yet Grateful

Wowsa we had quite the weekend!!! Yesterday the boys had 2 football games a piece. Let’s talk about Ryker! The first game was rough but the second game was awesome. He ran the ball in for his first touchdown via run! He also pulled his first flag, which is an accomplishment because prior to that game I wasn’t fully confident he could pull one. Those things take some getting used to!

AJ had such an awesome second game as well. He caught a touchdown pass and even got a chance to run the ball.  AJ almost always plays center. It’s not a glorious position, but it’s important. You can’t start any plays without the center. AJ doesn’t complain, and is almost always the first guy out of the huddle to the line of scrimmage. He hustles on and off the field and listens when his coaches are talking. It isn’t an easy team to play on, because it’s super intense. But AJ does love it and handles it all.  He even got Player of the Game! I love watching those boys play on a team. It makes me so happy how hard they work, how they have fun, and have developed awesome friendships with their teammates.

Today Dempsey told me, “ I wish I was on a team!”  I can’t wait to find her one:)

Dempsey and I attended our first ballet with our dear friends Mandy and Ella. One of my favorite parts of the ballet was when they were ballerinas on stage and Dempsey started replicating their movements in my lap. Her arm would raise up and then lower and when they did that move where they shuffle on their feet backswards, she would shuffle in my lap. So sweet❤️

Life Lessons

Yesterday AJ puked right when the bell rang. Unfortunately, everyone was still in class and the trash can had already been taken outside the room. So there was AJ, and the carpet, and his classmates. Within seconds I heard from a classmate what happened. Minutes later, AJ found me with his teacher outside of Dempsey’s room. Right when he found me tears welled up in his eyes. I knew that feeling-seeing the mom and losing your sh*t. He was feeling alright but was super embarrassed.

Fast forward to today. I’m laying in bed with all the kids and they are sharing back and forth their own puke stories. They ask for clarification from me on what realllllly happened, and then they laugh. AJ said, “You know-something super embarrassing one day can be very funny the next day.” Mic drop. This kid is so freakin smart.

Today was my 36th birthday and AJ and I chilled at home together. We had naps, played his favorite game that he has waited for months for someone in this family to play with him-Monopoly, and finished off the evening with some fun with my parents.

It was a good day.

Conversations

I overheard this conversation in the car with AJ and Demps.
AJ: So Dempsey what do you do all day at school?
Dempsey: well, I do centers in discovery den.
AJ: oh! Which centers?
Dempsey: Well green and blue and red.
AJ: All the colors of the rainbow?
Dempsey: well, yeah basically,

They continued on and Dempsey taught/reviewed AJ how to play Duck, Duck, Goose.  I have an extreme appreciation for when they get along and ask each other questions vs. the squabbles that tend to happen a lot.

Football

Ryk is loving football! Today he played two games and then last one he had an epic 2nd half. He had an interception and caught a pass for a touchdown!  These plays helped earn him Player of the Game! He put on the shirt immediately!

A Man of Multiple Talents

Ice Chunking

Sometimes you just gotta freeze some big chunks of ice, only so you can break them up with hammers and chisels the next day.

Sick

So there I was in staff lounge answering my friend, “No! We really don’t get the stomach bugs.” And then nearly 4 1/2 hours later as we pulled up to Russell’s goodbye party, Dempsey pukes in the parking lot.

She was ok until 230am.  But she honestly was the cutest though. In between pukes, she would say “thank you for holding my hair Momma,” and “I love you!” So sweeeet.

Choir Concerts

The boys had choir concerts this week! Two big things happened at these concerts. 1) Both boys weren’t really nervous but very excited to perform and have fun with their classmates. I think AJ’s leadership was huge in helping Ryker feel comfortable performing. 2) Both sets of grandparents were able to attend both concerts. To say we feel lucky is an understatement.
