New family mechanism for great success and happiness

That’s right, our family’s new mechanism for great success and happiness and balance and all the things has been officially established:  rotating 1:1 hangout nights with each kid/parent.  And this mechanism works via rotating magnets on the fridge.

Up first was me and Ryker, on a night of opportunity.  We drove the Tesla up Left Hand canyon, found a good spot to park, grabbed our camelbaks, picked a random direction and just started climbing up!  This, exactly, is something I’ve wanted to do since moving out here.  Makin dreams come true!

Ryker was so great.  There was a big boulder in our way, so we just climbed right up and over the thing.  A good climber.  Then as we got higher we reached a decision point: to the top of the ridge or the mountain.  Obvious choice, am I right??  Once we had a concrete goal/target acquired, then Ryker was leading the whole rest of the way.  “Come on Dad!”  About 800 ft vertical climb, pretty good!

We routefound our way down a different way, for the fun.  It was a great random peaceful hike with my favorite number 2 boy.

Then we went to eat some Indian food at our great local place, Ryker’s idea.  Great bonding evening.

Math Men

A quick brag about our boys. AJ recently was nominated by his teacher for Gifted and Talented in math. He will go through an assessment to see if he qualifies. In order to even be nominated you must test 2 grade levels above in the math

Ryk’s teacher emailed us that she would be sending 3rd grade homework home with Ryk from now on because as he says “2nd grade math is too easy.”

It makes us proud that our boys are rise to these new challenges!

Dempsey Drawing/Writing

Kinder is so amazing! Kids go in knowing their letters and come out readers and writers. I love seeing the progression!

Heart Emoji

“Mom, I put this picture up so that when you’re gone, you’re still with me.”
-Ryk

This kid has the biggest heart.  And he recently completed this activity about himself:

Serious. Serious is true, I guess.  Serious love, serious feelings. He’s just a great dude, who is very passionate about a few things in life.

Lucha Libre Date Night!

That’s right, Meg and I got out for the evening and went to see a live wrestling show at a brewery in Denver.  The commentators were absolutely hilarious! We also rode some electric scooters and got some awesome ice cream.  Then rode the motorcycle home.  It was a great date night!

Me and Ryker.  We share a thirst to experience life.  Love that about this one :)
