Melt my heart

I’m in dreary Chicago this week for a work conference.  Been missing the family like crazy when I let myself think about it, and feeling guilty because I’m here while Meg is home on week 2 of being on crutches.  We are so fortunate to have Meg’s parents close by, who are so gracious and willing to help.  We are forever in their debt.  

I’ve been very intentional about using my time to help Meg and spend time with each of the kids ahead of this week.  

One night I tucked everyone in as usual and was preparing for bed myself.  30 mins later Dempsey came in as she often does, usually to get one last goodnight hug and kiss.  This time, she walked straight to my nightstand, put a notecard on it, and then left without saying a word.  Turns out it was the most adorable little note that she had written for me.  After reading and sharing it with Meg, I went to give her a sincere hug and thanked her for being so thoughtful!  I told her I will definitely miss her.  She said ‘you can take the note in your bag if you want to, and look at it whenever you miss us’.

Wow.  How and where did she learn this?  Or is it a base feeling she had and just felt driven to do something about?

She is such a thoughtful sweetheart!
