This picture is Ryker making the perfect interception! Today he concluded is football season and it couldn't have been better! He played 2 games, 6 touchdowns, 1 interception, and A BUNCH of flags pulled. The team went through quite the transformation. Some kids had played together but majority were new to each other. The coaches were new too, and they were high school students. They started out getting dominated and then little by little they began to gel!
Another fun thing to share is Ryker's mental growth through the season. He adamantly shared with coaches that he didn't want to be involved on offense. The previous season he was the quarterback and it was...let's just say...rough. He didn't want that pressure. A teammate and friend got injured a few games ago, and coaches asked for someone to step up. Ryker did. I admire his resilience and persistence to not let past events ruin his opportunities to excel!
I've noticed Ryker really leaning into identity as an athlete. This makes my heart wanted to explode because I know the difference that sports played in my life. Basketball literally saved me. It taught me so much about myself, my power, how to keep friends, how to push my body, how to trust other adults in my life, mental toughness, and how to take care of my whole being to be at my best. I'm seeing Ryker learn some of these lessons. It's not that you have to have sports, but sports just offers the whole package in an accessible way.
Ryker got lots of props from us today, his coaches, his friends, and other parents. It's so important to feel noticed, seen, appreciated....he got that today.
Love you Ryk- it's so fun to watch you play!
