Let's Go Fly a Kite

Grammy graced us with her presence this weekend, and what a great weekend it was.  I decided that it was time to get the awesome ol' Monkey kite out.  I couldn't quite place the last time I had taken a kite out.  Must have been around 10-15 years ago.  So let's just follow the pictures.
Grammy showing AJ the ropes.
Feeling the wind.

AJ holding it with support from Grammy.

Grammy wondering if AJ could hold it by himself.

Me saying, "HECK YES."  Hold ON AJ!
And then a gust of wind came, and it was all over and Grammy went running.

AND then the gust of wind came again and AJ got extremely scared that the wind was going to blow him away.

AND we made a donation to the kite Gods!

and promptly headed home because the WIND was "no fun!"

I felt like we truly gave Aylen a common experience of childhood this weekend:)

Love,

Bonding, definition please.

When you and your oldest little hangout in the bed by yourselves, watching cartoons, and eating ice chips because that is the only thing that will stay down for both of you.

This is the life.

Catching Up

So the other day we were getting ready to herd everyone down the stairs and AJ told us, "Go ahead guys.  I'll catch up."  And so we headed downstairs and left AJ, and just as soon as we hit the bottom he was shutting off the cartoons by himself and heading down to join us.

It was so big boy of him.

"I'll catch up." said the 20 year old son of mine.

My Craft Projects

hello hi how's it going?
yes I can still do crafts every once in awhile.
Take that Pinterest.

so here's a couple of items that I've actually COMPLETED.

1.  Fabric Paint Helping Husband Find the Clothes:  This was a small task, but I really enjoy how it looks.  Just did simple drawings to represent what is in the fabric totes.

2.  RED door to the Land of Kelly:  This was an impulse decision, but one that I completely love.  It was quite the task of sanding, taping, and painting, and painting, and painting.

3.  The Kids' Kitchen:  I've been jonesing for a kitchen for the boys.  While in Aruba, my parents took the boys to Ikea and Aylen played with the kitchen there for 1+ hours.  I thought that with Grandparent money we might just go buy the one at Ikea, but then thought-nah.  I should make one myself, just like this website that I follow on occasion.  So it all started with telling my friends, Julia and Phil.  A few hours later they sent this picture!  I asked Russ if he would grab them after coming down the mountain from snowboarding.  He was minutes away from closing time, but luckily grabbed them.

Here's a breakdown of the cost and pictures of what this all consisted of:
$10- fridge and stove from ReStore
$11- handles for stove/hand towel
$10- faucet from ReStore (yup it's real!)
$11- pan/sink/pot from Thrift Store
$6- silcone caulk
$7- stove rack
$10- LED light for oven
$7- knobs for oven
------
red paint (already had)
yellow paint (already had)
black spray paint (already had)
Ikea frames (already had)
spray sealer (already had)
wood for stove top and back splash (already had)
------
TOTAL:  $72

I then of course had to buy some kitchen utensils and Melissa and Doug's wooden fridge items.  And it sounds like Grandma will be sending some more small utensils that she found in her kitchen.  It was pretty awesome because I told Russ that I would present the kitchen to the boys this past Saturday.  The idea would be that while I away at my tattoo the boys would have a new awesome thing to play with, making Daddy's life a bit easier!  Russ predicted that the boys would play with it for 5 minutes and then move on to something else.  HAH!  Russ told me that he had to PULL AJ away from it in the afternoon to go outside because he just wanted to "cook" all day long.

Score for Momma.
