1. Hot Air Balloons: Almost an annual tradition now, we head to Erie to watch these awesome balloons take off. It really is pretty epic to see how big they are, their colors, and how the process works. The whole family really gets into this!
2. G'Night Ride! This is a bike across Longmont while stopping at various breweries. We did this with Russell's work peeps and had an awesome time. Each year we run into more and more people, which feels awesome to know that we are starting to get more established here in Longmont.
3. Lake Time: We had some awesome lake time this summer. The kids are becoming more comfortable in the water, which makes me enjoy taking them more. We finally discovered Union Reservoir which is exactly three minutes from our house. We also found a great spot at Lake Loveland which brings several of our friends together. So great!
4. Estes Park Fun: Having my parents finally make the move to Estes Park has certainly brought the family out. We've been able to explore a couple of hikes up in Estes, with cousins! Not only this but we get to see my parents SO much more. I sometimes have to pinch myself!

5. Colorado Springs Fruhfest: Russell's siblings and Dad/Granny Barb came out for an awesome weekend of hiking, taking the train, enjoying laughs by the fire, and of course a pinata! Although the altitude did not treat some of the family well, we all had an awesome time and the cousins enjoyed themselves immensely. We also happened to nab Pikes Peak with the awesome mountain goat Will.

6. Girl Mountain Time! I continue to find my girl time in the mountains more and more. It's interesting because I almost feel like I was robbed of this epic mountain adventure time because I grew up in Nebraska. There is something so empowering about being with the ladies in the mountains. I bagged 2-14ers with my friend Amy, and it was my hardest hike yet. I went on the second inaugural Ladies Backpack Trip and oh boy it was awesome./
7. Tour de Colorado: This happened and was an awesome thing! We had a chance to drive around the awesome mountain ranges while we camped in a couple of places. We stayed at Rifle Falls which was a completely kid-friendly, waterfall awesomeness place.
8. Hiking With Grammy! We got in some good hiking with Grammy to a close by spot called Rabbit Mountain. It is only 15 minutes away, has awesome views, and keeps everyone reasonably engaged.
9. Camping with Our Peeps! We camped more this summer than we have in a very long time. We discovered that cots work extremely well for our family and we manage to get reasonable sleep. Hallelujah. I have to say that the idea of going anywhere these days where we are guaranteed to get worse sleep than we get at home makes me want to say "OH HECK NO!" But cots, man. I think we've told everyone that we know how much we love those things! We also managed to get the ol' college crew together for our annual (but rarely kept goal) trip to Lake Mac. Our sweet awesome group keeps having babies which makes it really hard to get everybody together. However, we did it-minus the one friend that was closest to the lake. Of course, she just had a baby! So there's that....
We really traveled around Colorado, despite my declaration of a TRAVEL-FREE summer. This was the most that I have ever been on 1-70 (for those who aren't familiar, this is the official mountain highway). For a good couple of weeks I seemed to be on there every 5 days. I continue to feel so lucky (and sometimes crazy) for having summers off. Luckily Russell tends to save his time up and uses it during the summer too. With a summer live-in Grammy, we get to have the best times together, as a family and a couple.
I feel super lucky and truly don't take any of it for granted.
