Hello World!

When learning to program in a computer language, the first program you usually create is one that somehow displays the message "Hello World". Kind of a rite-of-passage.

You're right, I am NOT a programmer and can't even pretend to be one, nor would I want to! Still, I find the title fairly fitting.

Oh crap, I did it didn't I: started off my daddy-blog with some geek humor.

Let's all hope I can do our child a favor and be the Dad who is thoughtful, useful, and still manages to maintain some semblance of the "cool" factor.

So what (else) can I say in this post? I know more about birth, breastfeeding, and early parenting than most doctors in less developed countries. :) For those who know Meg, you will know that she does not know how to do something without at least mapping out a path and learning every aspect she can! Matter of fact, that's what I love about her. I can confidently, honestly say that we are very prepared to be parents and I am very excited. And, interestingly, knowing that we still have a lot to learn is a part of the vast amount of knowledge we have gained. Most of this confidence is due not to classes, but the fact that both Meg and I were very fortunate to be raised by some great parents ourselves. I know that we are fairly well balanced and will instill good values and teach good lessons to our kids. As far as I'm concerned, we have so many resources to call if we are in need of any advice about the small stuff.

Thanks everyone for helping us get to this point in our lives. Megan, thanks especially to you for having me in yours. I'm excited for the times ahead.

Damn, I was only planning on a 1 sentence post!
