my man has been working alot lately. LIKE a ton. So I had told him that we should go on a little vacation together in Colorado sometime soon. We decided to go the weekend before his WEEK long shutdown at work! What better way to start a shutdown then exploring some of the state!
Our trip began with a little trip to the Ultrasound place! More on this the next post!
Then we headed toward Manitou Springs, where we spent two nights! Here's a little overview of our time!
1. We first went to the Cave of the Winds. What a fun spot-and pretty sure the boys enjoyed the water trough way more than the cave. It was a smidgen stressful in the cave because we couldn't touch anything (hard for little boys) and we had to be quiet in parts of it while the guide was talking. OVERall the boys did really well though!
2. Took the Cog Train up to Pikes Peak! Really really recommend this trek! It takes a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to the summit. Such a great, beautiful ride!

3. Went to the Cheyenne Zoo in Colorado Springs. I can't say ENOUGH about this zoo. LOTS and LOTS of things to see!!! First of all it is on the side of a mountain so that means you get a decent hike the whole time, the views are amazing, and the local animals are in their complete native habitat. Secondly, your first stop is to feed GIRAFFES! The eat lettuce and crackers and it was amazing. RUSS had to seriously almost drag me away. I just wanted to watch and take pictures of these amazing creatures. Let's see what else- got to pet a baby wallaby, play in this awesome petting zoo place, and the boys rode a miniature train! I very much recommend this zoo!!
4. R & R. With Russ working a decent bit, and me being the stay-at-home-summer-mom life has been a bit nutso. I feel like I have taken the lions share of home duties including cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. It makes sense because I'm home full-time and Russ isn't. BUT it is tiring. So I was really thankful for some time away from the house where I didn't have to clean up food from little ones, or prepare any meals, or pickup clothes around the house. IT was really nice.
We had a really great time, and were also glad to get home. Something about traveling with little ones makes me really appreciate having our OWN beds, our own play areas, and you just can't replace home. ever.
:) Love,
Momma
